The Rainbow Alumni and Allies Club (RAAC) is dedicated to advancing advocacy, promoting pride, and supporting our LGBTQ+ students at Fresno State. Each spring, the RAAC supports the Rainbow Graduation commencement ceremony through the purchase graduation boxes that contain regalia (rainbow tassels, stoles, and medallions) to give to those students who are graduating that year. In 2020, we were able to provide these pieces of regalia to 32 students - a record number of participants for the Rainbow Graduation.
Through generous donations from the community, we are able to outfit these students in regalia at no cost to them. Not only are we assisting these students in showcasing their pride within the LGBTQ+ community and as a Fresno State alumni, but also doing so without the worry that they would be unable to obtain these pieces of regalia otherwise.
With community support we aim to surpass last years goal by outfitting 36 students and establishing a new record on campus for student participants. Any additional funds raised will be used to support future LGBTQ+ student events and projects at Fresno State such as Queer Prom.
