We would like to thank everyone who helped us along the way and supported our 2020 Sonia Kovalevsky Math Day. Your donation and support made a big difference and it was much appreciated!
The event was held on February 29th, 2020 on the Fresno State campus, and it brought together about 70 middle school and high school female students, 11 teachers, and 40 Fresno State faculty and students (the majority of whom are preparing to become mathematics teachers). The participants seemed to enjoy our fun-filled activities containing engaging and collaborative math workshops, a plenary talk, and an educational/career panel. Fresno State student presenters and volunteers who led the workshops kept the participants engaged in math modeling and strategy games that revealed the fun side of mathematics.
The success of our event would not have been possible without the help of our donors, and for their support we are forever grateful! Thank you!
UPDATE: We've reached our dollar goal, but we still have a need! Every dollar counts toward making our 'Sonia Kovalevsky Math Day' as special as possible for girls in grades 7-12. Please consider still donating or sharing. Thank You!
Many thanks to all who have been so generous and donated to this project. Can we please have you pass the word to family and friends? We need more donors, to show that we deeply care and are passionate about the need to support young women in mathematics, and STEM fields in general. When women do not consider careers in STEM fields, we lose lots of talent.
