Coming off of an impressive year for the Lyles College of Engineering Construction Management (CM) Department, your generous financial support and collaboration will help the CM Department Commercial Building Team and Bluebeam User Group (BUG) continue to represent California State University Fresno by paving the way for future activities, conferences and competitions to serve the construction industry and the Central Valley.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, the Fresno State CM Commercial Building Team traveled to Kissimmee, Florida, to compete at the National Associated Builders and Contractors Construction Management Competition for the first time since 2020. After months of preparing a Request for Proposal (RFP) and two days of addenda and presenting, the team placed 2nd in the Project Management category, 3rd in the Estimating category, and 2nd in the Overall Competition.
Meanwhile, the Fresno State Bluebeam User Group (BUG) was honored with the Standout BUG of the Year by Bluebeam at their XCON Conference in San Diego, California. The group holds a regular speaker series each semester and focuses on the technical development of our undergraduate and graduate students by bringing back experience from conferences and workshops like these. Being awarded the 2023 Bluebeam Standout BUG of the Year was an acknowledgment of these students' extraordinary effort to advance learning within Fresno State's Construction Management program and the construction industry. See here.
Attending events like these is representative of months of hard work and dedication students put in throughout the year. Not only does this pay dividends in their personal development but allows them to procure professional internships and job opportunities, and network with industry professionals representing our university with the utmost integrity and proficiency.
