Have you attended any of our outdoor events? The Fresno State viticulture and enology program is seeking funds to modify and enhance our existing outdoor event space used to host a wide range of grape and wine educational and networking activities.
OUR STORY
In 1994, when the late Dr. Vincent E. Petrucci lead a major fundraising campaign to renovate and expand Fresno State’s viticulture and enology facilities, he included funding for a dedicated outdoor event space for the viticulture and enology program.
With support from the H. P. Metzler family and additional industry donors, this space adjacent to the Fresno State vineyards became known as the Henry Metzler Gazebo and lawn area.
Alumni and Friends Gather at Vincent Petrucci's 90th Birthday Celebration in 2015Since that time, whether it be an educational field day for growers, a dinner celebration for our graduates, a community wine tasting event, or an activity for our student clubs, this unique location has given our university officials, and faculty, staff, and students in our program an outdoor environment to build relationships with one another, and with our alumni, colleagues, and members of the grape and wine industry.
WHY FUNDS ARE NEEDED
While the viticulture and enology program has been able to utilize our existing outdoor facilities to host a mix of events and activities for nearly thirty years, the need for outdoors events and activities has increased. We have also identified the need for some modifications that would improve this event space.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
With your support, funds will be used to enhance capacity, upgrade the existing facilities, and improve the overall experience for everyone for years to come. Modifications and enhancements may include lighting and walk-ways.

What if everyone who has ever attended an event or activity on our outdoor Henry Metzler Gazebo and lawn area could donate $10?!
Students in the Viticulture Club and Enology Society host meetings, events, and activities on our lawn and gazebo area, including the gathering of high school students from all over the state at the annual FFA contests.
Donations will enhance our guests' experience at Fresno State Winery tasting events and other events designed for the community.
Your donation will improve our ability to host events that celebrate program milestones and special occasions with our on-campus community, alumni, colleagues, industry, and media.
Funds raised will increase capacity for departmental activities including our annual graduate dinners, and welcome back events when we gather together as faculty, staff, students, and friends.
Modifications to increase space will enhance our ability to offer outdoor educational field days and events for our students, alumni, and grape and wine industry.
Support at this level will help us reach our goal of improving our outdoor space for everyone, i.e. our students and program, now and in the future.
