Help Send Students On Field Trips to Commercial Vineyards & Wineries!

Support our Fresno State Viticulture & Enology students!  

The Viticulture and Enology department at Fresno State gives its students the unique opportunity to get hands on training in the country's first commercially bonded university winery and our very own 120 acre vineyard. The Viticulture and Enology department prides itself in providing the grape and wine industry with well prepared graduates to join the work force. 

Part of this preparation includes exposing students to numerous aspects of the industry, as well as connecting them to industry partners.

While the student experience in the university winery and vineyard provides a strong foundation in the viticulture and enology fields, giving them the opportunity to visit wineries and vineyards out of our region as part of their curriculum will enhance and broaden their knowledge. Field trips to commercial vineyards and wineries in various grape and wine growing regions throughout the state will give them first-hand exposure to the actual process of vineyard operations and wine making processes along with hospitality, sales, and marketing.

Funds raised will include transportation costs for the students and Fresno State viticulture and enology faculty/staff representatives to travel to grape and wine regions outside of the local area. An average charter bus for approximately 40 students for a one day trip can cost around $1500.  We would like to be able to offer at least one major field trip per semester. This project will help us allow students to graduate with not only a degree but exposure to the commercial industry.  Students also make connections with potential employers, which helps prepare them for the job hunt.
