Fresno Math Circle is an enrichment program for students in grades 1-12 interested in mathematics. The purpose of the program is to introduce children to interesting mathematical ideas that are not taught in school, work on challenging problems, discuss some important concepts at a greater depth than is usually done in school, develop logic and reasoning skills, and, very importantly, have fun with mathematics and make friends who also like mathematics. Fresno Math Circle is free and is open to students in grades 3-12 at public, private, or home schools. We currently have four groups, grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12, meeting biweekly for 1.5-2 hours. In addition, for those interested in competing, we host a few national and local competitions in mathematics problem solving as well as preparation sessions for them (some examples are American Mathematics Competitions, American Invitational Mathematics Exam, Math Kangaroo, Math Field Day). Some groups are taught by Fresno State mathematics faculty, and some are taught by Fresno State students, guided by faculty. Thus, in addition to the local K-12 students, the program also benefits Fresno State students, mostly pre-service teachers currently in the credential program, giving them valuable experience in working with children.
In addition to learning advanced math and working on challenging problems, free explorations with math toys and friends are an important component of Math Circle, especially for younger participants.
Over 60 students (grades 1-12) participate in Math Kangaroo every year.
The American Mathematics Competitions are very challenging. Kids are working hard!
Happy participants winning some prizes!

Support a prize for a problem solving competition. Prizes stimulate the young participants to try their best!
Support one participant for a semester. $100 is our average expense per participant per semester.
Support our registration for the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC 8 for grades 8 and below; AMC 10 for grades 10 and below: AMC 12 for grades 12 and below).
Support logic puzzle books given out to all particants at the end of the school year to help them continue developing their logical skills over the summer break.
Support one Math Circle student helper for a year. Fresno State students are hired to help with the activities. Having permanent helpers allows us to offer better one-on-one and small group discussions with the participants.
