The Fresno State viticulture and enology program (grape and wine program) is grateful to have a special library that is uniquely embedded within the Department of Viticulture and Enology. University libraries play a critical role by providing a place for patrons to study alone or in groups, to experience quiet space, or to access valuable physical and/or virtual resources.
We seek to raise funds to renovate and expand the study space in the V. E. Petrucci Library to improve student success and patron services.
The use and demand of the viticulture and enology collection library collection, resources, and space have increased, especially over the last decade. With this increased use comes the need for increased space for collaborative and independent study.
Our library named for Vincent E. Petrucci, founder of the viticulture and enology programs at Fresno State, is a collection of the Fresno State Henry Madden Library. It is located on campus, surrounded by the Fresno State vineyards and winery.
Our library supports the academic disciplines related to viticulture and enology, and a thriving grape and wine research program. It's resources and services are open to students, graduate students, staff, faculty, researchers, alumni, agricultural industry, and the public.
A redesign of existing library space will provide increased individual and/or group study space and improve library technology access. The redesign may include additional tables, chairs, digital work stations, and the removal of cabinets to increase floor space.
Due to the current critical budget situation the state of California is facing, Foundation and state funds are not available to support this special project. The annual income which is primarily derived from an annual endowment fund that was established in 1996 by the Viticulture and Enology Alumni Association, does not currently provide for projects that fall beyond the library's core operations.
We are seeking donations to help us respond to the growing need for additional student and patron study space while improving library services. Your support will also help us prepare for the time when the university safely returns to in-person classes.

In 1948, Vincent E. Petrucci began building the foundation of the library and the viticulture and enology program.
Did you now our library digitized around 3,000 slides from Dr. Vincent E. Petrucci's personal collection? These include teaching, research, and sabbatical slides that span from the 1940's to the 1990's.
